The Event

• The American Cake Awards 2024 will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport Hotel on Saturday 27th April 2024

• The event is not suitable for babies and children under 16 and they will not be permitted entry - children over 16 will need to purchase a ticket, no discounts are available

• We are happy to provide invitation letters to attendees outside North America requiring a Visa, but please note that winners and nominees of the awards are only open to creators and businesses in North America

• Tickets to the awards include a glass of wine with a delicious three course dinner, the awards ceremony, amazing gift bag and after party

• Tickets with details of your table number will be sent out a few weeks before the event

• Tickets must be presented upon arrival and ID may be requested, a bank card is sufficient

• Dress code is strictly black tie, jeans, trainers or casual wear will not be permitted entry

 Judging Panel

• Our panel of judges have been selected to provide a cross section of experience, skills and perspective from across the North American cake industry

• The panel will be judging the following categories: Wedding, Sculpted, Cookie, Sugar Flowers, Cake Maker, Modelling Excellence and Cake Artist of the Year

Nominations

• Nominations can be made via the online nominations form

• There is no cost to nominate

• When nominating, please tell us why you think you or the person you have nominated should win

• One nomination form per person, any duplicate forms will be disregarded

• These awards are open to creators in North America - USA, Canada, Mexico and the Islands

• If you have any issues completing the form, please email info@americancakeawards.com for a manual form that you can complete and email back

• Becoming a finalist for skills based categories is NOT based on the number of nominations – for further details, please see below

Judging Process

Best Retailer, People’s Choice Award and Best Show Award

• These three awards are based on the number of nominations received

• The top nominations will be selected and then a voting process will open for the successful finalists

• When voting opens, you can vote upto 3 times

Wedding Cake, Sculpted Cake, Sugar Flowers, Cookie, Cake Maker and Modelling Excellence Awards

• All nominations are considered in a shortlisting process undertaken by the American Cake Awards team – shortlisting for these skills based categories is NOT based on the number of nominations received

• The shortlisting process involves going through each and every nomination and carefully considering the work of nominated creators

• Shortlisted finalists are then contacted and will need to provide a portfolio of work which will be judged by our esteemed panel of judges

Rising Star Award USA, Canada and Mexico

• These awards will be given to up and coming cake artists, one from each of the three regions, who are future stars! All finalists will be required to send in a personal statement and portfolio of work which will be considered by the American Cake Awards Team.

Cake Hero Award

• The winner is based on the feedback from the nominations forms and what people’s heroes mean to them

• Please let us know why you are nominating a particular hero when you fill in the form

Industry Icon of the Year 2024

• This special award is to recognize outstanding skills and contributions to the industry. Suggestions can be made via the form and the winner will be selected by the American Cake Awards team 

Cake Artist of the Year 2024

• The judging panel will each put forward two suggestions for Cake Artist of the Year and the winner will be decided by the panel

Lifetime Achievement Award

• This is not an annual award but is given to an icon that has helped shape the industry with excellence in their field of artistry

• Voting for Cake Show, Personality of the Year and Retailer OPENS after the 14th March 2024

• The deadline may be extended at the discretion of the American Cake Awards team

Finalists

• Will be contacted and informed of the next steps by email

• Will be required to submit a portfolio of work that best represents the category they are a finalist in

• Who are unable to respond and submit information by portfolio submission deadlines will result in a new finalist being selected
